Crew

While the riders may have the toughest athletic job on an event like this, crew have the toughest job overall. Once the ride gets rolling the safety of the rider, all logistics, nutrition, morale....everything is up to the crew. They not only have to endure sleep depravation they also get to endure very demanding athletes the entire way.

I have no idea why people volunteer for this job but without them the ride just simply doesn't happen. They must be dedicated not only to being a part of one of the toughest endurance contests in the world, they must also be dedicated to the underlying cause as well; no other reason explains why a person would put themselves through this.
Crew Chief
Jason was one of the key crew members in Team Beat Cancers 2007 ride. For 2008, he is taking on the duties of crew chief. Once the ride gets started, it's all up to the crew chief to get us to the end.
Why would i volunteer to do this?
I saw the RAAM e-mail from Jim, Brandy's friend and thought I'd like to help with it. I love being part of a team and helping wherever I can! A member of my bike club has done the 508 2 x's and I've heard the stories from her crew members. I also volunteer for the Tour of California and the Tour de Georgia as a traveling marshal. We're a team of 10 in a van everyday for the week. Love it! I love to ride and ride long distance. Ride across America not race across America. Looking forward to being a part of your crew!
